February Album Writing Month
I wrote a song while we were on the phone You said so much, so I was taking notes I stole your words and tried make them rhyme. I drifted off but I stayed on the line I tried to write down the words, so I wouldn't forget. And I closed my eyes and daydreamed again. Half of me is with you, half is somewhere else. I drift away, I can't help myself. You said my name and I came back too late. My thoughts were deep into something I can't name. You opened up and I kept drifting on. The bridge is where it changes, but I couldn't bring you along I tried to write down the words, so I wouldn't forget. And I closed my eyes and I fell through again. Some of me is with you, mostly somewhere else. I don't know where I go, I can't help myself. Somewhere in the water, somewhere in the steam. The space between awake, and the edges of a dream. Here inside the hum of your voice and mine. The space between the notes, the weight of borrowed time. I made it back and you knew I was gone. And somehow, graciously, you still held on. Now some of me is with you, more than before. okay, I'm here now, sorry, I'm listening. I'm all yours
